Frequently Asked Questions

  • Physical therapy is care that is designed to ease pain and improve function, movement, and quality of life performed by a licensed physical therapist. People of all ages benefit from it, and it is used to treat a large variety of injuries and health problems. Many times physical therapy prevents the need for surgery and/or medications.

  • No, but we welcome everybody to our clinic whether you have insurance or not and provide exactly what you need to submit for “direct patient reimbursement” to your insurance company. We are a patient driven clinic rather than an insurance driven clinic because insurance creates unnecessary roadblocks to excellent care. Insurance contracts dictate what treatment is allowed and how many times you can be seen. Thrive Physical Therapy values patients and prioritizes their care. We don't want insurance deciding how you should be treated and neither should you. Therefore, we are a self-pay clinic and require payment at time of service. We accept HSA, cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and debit cards. If you have an FSA, Health Share, or insurance, we will provide a Superbill for you to submit for reimbursement at out of network rates.

  • Dr. Chelsea understands chronic pain and injury pain from her personal experience, and experienced how some patients with pain can be dismissed by medical professionals. We listen to patients as they are the experts of their own body. We focus on identifying and treating the root cause of your pain, not just managing the symptoms. We emphasize patient education about what is happening in your body and why, and utilize a specific technique called Pain Neuroscience Education which is a strategy to teach patients to reshape their mindset and perception of pain by retraining the brain. While pain medications can be effective in temporarily managing pain, it does not treat what isn't working correctly in your body. Our goal is to help your body recover, give you the tools to independently manage your pain, and provide pain relief without dependency on the healthcare system.

Since we are not restricted by insurance rules regarding treatment, we can treat whatever is bothering you, as time allows, every appointment. For instance, if your primary reason for coming to the clinic is for back pain, but you also twisted your ankle on a run, we can treat both without waiting for approval from an insurance company.

  • All appointments are one full hour with your therapist. The first appointment includes a complete evaluation and assessment of your pain and/or movement restrictions followed by treatment, patient education of what is causing the issue, and what treatment will consist of in the following appointments. Most patients are seen once a week until the patient has met their goals. The formula is to calm, correct, and conquer your pain and restrictions.
